My NUTS Morning Routine
So I have been going down the rabbit hole on how to bring my best self as much as I can every single day. After reflecting upon it, I have a higher likelihood of achieving that by making sure my non-negotiable unalterable term (NUTs) morning routine has to happen. It is my life razor, if you are familiar with that term.
Each day I ensure I block out at least 1-2 hours to do the following morning routine:
Read for 10-30 minutes.
Meditate for 10-15 minutes.
Write for 10-15 minutes.
Workout for 30-60 minutes.
Walk my dog, Rover. Well for as long as he wants to go walk.
Excluding Rover’s walk, that’s 1-2 hours of my morning. Some mornings are tighter scheduled than others, but if I can get my NUTs morning routine done, I believe I am bringing my best self to that day in life.
So the thing about a life razor, you have direct control over it. It’s your choice to make it happen. If you need to be somewhere at 8am, I go to sleep earlier to get my 6-7 hours of sleep, so I can wake up at 5:30am and take care of my NUTS morning routine.
How did this shake out yesterday? Wonderfully! I put in a full 2 hours instead of 1 hour, since it is the weekend and I was mainly taking care of things at home yesterday.
Workout Recap (I typically use enough resistance in order to get to 70-80% resistance level for each exercise, if applicable):
Dumbbell Benchpress - 10 sets, 12 reps each
Dumbbell Flies (flat bench) - 10 sets, 12 reps each
Kettle Bell Swings - 5 sets, 12 reps each
Crunch Kicks - 5 sets, 20 reps each
I have been reading The Five Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom. Mainly it’s been helpful for writing prompts in my journal. I focused yesterday primarily on identifying my life razor. Today’s NUTS routine I plan to focus on my life compass by identifying my goals and anti-goals across my wealth spectrum. Looking forward to share more. I also need to do an update on my current portfolio allocation %. I haven’t done one of those since 2022. Time flies!
